Quetta Gladiators vs Islamabad United PSL Final 2016 live streaming

While five franchises started out on the road to the final, only two are still left standing in the PSL.

The Quetta Gladiators qualified for the showpiece event by winning the first qualifying final against Peshawar Zalmi, with the two teams having finished the double round-robin stage tied at the top of the table on 12 points.

Islamabad United, meanwhile, finished the group in third place and have since won two knockout ties to move within touching distance of the trophy.

They knocked out Peshawar in the third qualifying final on Sunday. Sharjeel Khan was their hero, as he claimed a PSL milestone. The opening batsman hit the first century in the history of the tournament, with his knock of 117 powering United to a total of 176 for three.

Spinner Imran Khalid then claimed a four-wicket haul as Peshawar were bowled out for 126 in reply.

While Islamabad have played two games in as many days over the weekend, Quetta have been able to sit back and wait to find out who they would be facing next.

Judging by a pictured tweeted from Dubai, Kevin Pietersen and some of his team-mates made the most of the chance to relax before the big game:

As well as Pietersen, the Gladiators’ batting lineup also includes Sri Lanka legend Kumar Sangakkara and Pakistan internationals Ahmed Shehzad and Sarfraz Ahmed, who is the team’s captain.

However, it is their bowling that has been the key to their success so far.

Left-arm spinner Mohammad Nawaz has taken 13 wickets at an average of 16.84, while New Zealand all-rounder Grant Elliott has picked up 11 wickets with his military medium pace.

Islamabad offer a little more pace with the ball—West Indian Andre Russell and Mohammad Sami have combined for 24 wickets between them.

They are led by Pakistan Test captain Misbah-ul-Haq, while the Australian pairing of Brad Haddin and Shane Watson add even more experience to the squad. The trio's combined age stands at 113, while Sami is hardly a spring chicken at 34.
Sam Billings did bring a touch of youth to the squad, but the England batsman left the UAE early to feature for his country in the two-match Twenty20 series against South Africa.
Luke Wright has also been in action at the tournament for Quetta, but a wrist injury hampered his campaign, with the all-rounder left out of the side that qualified for the final.
He confirmed on Twitter he was available for selection, so he could still feature in Dubai:
United have already lost twice to their fellow finalists this year. The Gladiators comfortably chased down targets of 129 and 118 with eight and seven wickets to spare, respectively, in the group stage.
The first meeting was the opening game of the competition—now the two sides close out the inaugural season with a winner-takes-all contest that will decide who ends as champions.

Islamabad United

Sharjeel Khan made a name for himself with his century in the win that clinched Islamabad their place in the final. The 26-year-old is hardly an unknown—he has previously played 11 one-day internationals and three Twenty20 fixtures for Pakistan.

Another big score on Tuesday could further push his claims for a return to the national team, although his run-scoring exploits have come too late to be included in Pakistan's squad for the ICC World Twenty20.

 Quetta Gladiators

Kevin Pietersen hasn't quite hit top form for Quetta during his time in the UAE. The former England batsman has been steady if unspectacular, managing 197 runs in eight innings at an average of 28.14.

However, he made 53 from 38 deliveries in the first qualifying final. Expect KP to want to make an impact when the trophy is on the line. England supporters, save yourself the heartache and don't even bother to check the scoreboard.
